Job Title: Distribution Supervisor
Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following; Other duties may be assigned. . • Assists the Distribution Manager with hiring, training and developing drivers and helpers. • Ability to work closely with all Customer Service personnel, Warehouse Manager, and warehouse supervisors to ensure accurate deliveries to customers. • Assist Distribution Manager with the day to day Roadnet computerized routing of trucks for local distribution in a team setting while maintaining customer relationship/service • Monitor driver start times to ensure on time dispatches. • Tracking of driver attendance, late starts, call offs and covering the schedule with back-up drivers. • Track route progress through Roadnet to minimize delay in deliveries. • Provide management reports for review through Roadnet. • Conduct random audits of driver’s license and medical cards. • Execute/enforce accident procedures with driver in the rare event they occur. • Coordinate breakdown calls of trucks to get back in service as soon as possible. • Assist in maintaining cost efficient policies within the department to ensure all budget goals are met. • Assist in conforming to all DOT regulations on the road and across all record keeping requirements mandated by the DOT. • Monitor of driver start times / end times, and ensure on time deliveries. • Assist in the monitoring/enforcement of all company policies and procedures. Assist and monitors all union contract protocol is adhered to consistently. • Administer disciplinary action as required and within the union contract guidelines. Required Qualifications: • Knowledge and understanding of DOT Federal Regulations – Certification a plus. • Minimum of 2+ years driving and management experience • Possess CDL-B with Airbrake Endorsement Driver’s License and an excellent driving record. • Strong leadership competencies • Above average verbal and written communication skills • Skill in supervising, skilled and semi-skilled employees • Highly familiar with the Chicagoland and surrounding areas. Ability to read map and train others. • MS Office Suite experience (Word, Excel, etc.); strong computer skills with the ability to learn mobile cast and other new technologies deployed. • Ability to lift 75 lbs or more • Ability to complete tasks/assignments with minimum supervision: motivates self and others to accomplish important objectives. Ability to multi task in a complex environment with multiple demands. Helps foster a sense of urgency on time sensitive matters. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED; College degree desired • CDL B with Airbrake endorsement • 3 – 5 years in transportation/operations supervision
